Hello and welcome to this adventure into the worlds of Nerdom and Geekery. I am just a little Nerdling (not a full blown Nerd, but well on my way) and join me on my travels into Nerdom and back again. I have, as most of you out there, seen most (if not all) of the comic based movies and TV shows, but I am not a hardcore comic book person. I love these worlds that have been created for those of us who are on the fringes of geekery, but have not fully committed to the comic world. The Nerdom is not just restricted to comics though. The Nerdy and Geeky worlds are vast and cover many avenues of pop culture, and I want to talk about many of these avenues with you. But as the saying goes, the journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step.
My first foray into the Nerdom will be a look into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how an Iron Man headed an entire film galaxy full of superheroes and supervillains, and the template in which all comic book movie universes are attempting to follow (yup DC, we’re all looking at you). I will be getting some help in the form of my film loving other half, UberApe. I will let him explain to you why he is playing witness to this voyage. We will be starting with the first Iron Man movie and following the MCU movies and TV shows as they have been released (mostly) and working our way to the end of Phase 2 with The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man. The TV show Agent Carter will be watched after Captain America: The First Avenger and not halfway through the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. since the show takes place time wise after the events of the film.
I want to talk about how the movies and shows relate to each other and the impact they have on just the MCU and not how they relate to the comics. I see the MCU as its own universe outside of the comics. I also want to talk about what this all leads to for Phase 3 of the MCU and geek out on some theories about these new characters and storylines. I have read a few comics and my collection is small, but growing. I don’t have the benefit of knowing all these new characters and storylines are when the announcement came down, but I do have theories on how some of these characters will contribute to the MCU.
I will be venturing into other avenues of geekery and pop culture with other book series, TV Shows, movies, etc. Maybe throw out a few theories as to why it is taking so long for George R.R. Martin to release Winds of Winter. Coming soon will be a bracket for the next series, game, or toy Hollywood is going to try and make into a movie sounds. Wax poetic about our favorite geeky people in Hollywood. Lots and lots of nerding out on Star Wars. The geekery to be had is endless.
So stay tuned fellow Nerdlings, fire up the DVD Player and when I come back, let’s talk about Iron Man and the starting of Phase One in the MCU. In the meantime, subscribe to the site, follow me on Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram , like me on Facebook, and/or find me on Google+ for updates and random thoughts.
