The Jungle Book Teases Us

After faking us out with a promise to release the trailer yesterday (I know it was on Access Hollywood, but cheesey tabloid shows that talk over half the preview as it is being shown in the credits don’t count), Disney finally released The Jungle Book trailer online. Take a look!

Holy Mowgli!

My first thoughts were about how stunning the visuals look. Jon Favreau let the beauty of the jungle speak for itself and didn’t try and mute or expand the colors digitally. Scarlett Johansson’s voice over as Kaa was perfectly saccharine and terrifying at the same time. Unfortunately her voice is the only one we get to hear. I would have liked to hear how the others sounded, but it is a teaser trailer and they want to save the rest for another time. I get it. Of course we get a nice little teaser for the song “Bear Necessities” at the end. My little kiddo heart jumped with joy on hearing that.

Overall the movie looks great and could end up being an exciting adventure film for kids and adults alike. So far I am thrilled to see this one in theaters.

The Jungle Book stars Neel Sethi, Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, Giancarlo Esposito, and Lupita Nyong’o. It hits theaters April 7, 2016.
