Ant-Man getting a sequel

Yesterday it was announced Ant-Man will be getting a sequel titled Ant-Man and the Wasp and will hit theaters July 6, 2018. I am pretty happy Ant-Man is getting a sequel. I really enjoyed the movie especially after the heaviness that was Age of Ultron. The movie also proved that Marvel can do an exciting superhero movie without having to destroy a city in the process.

The down side of the sequel announcement is both Black Panther and Captain Marvel are going to be pushed back a year. Black Panther will now hit theaters February 16, 2018 and Captain Marvel will arrive on March 8, 2019. I am not happy about this at all because these are the two movies I am the most excited for in phase 3 (outside of Civil War). These are two characters and movies that are long overdue for the MCU. The only positive I can see for pushing both movies back is Kevin Feige has more time to find a screen writer and director for both movies and a fitting leading lady for Captain Marvel.

Lastly, the second announcement made yesterday is Marvel will have three movies premiering in 2020 in May, July, and November. There has been so specifications as to whether or not these films are going to be a part of phase three or if that is the beginning of phase four. If I had to guess, I’d say they are the start dates for phase four and they will be sequels to Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, and however they are going to reboot Captain America and/or Iron Man since we all know Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. are not coming back full time to the MCU and the Marvel is not going to let these established heroes go to waste.

What do you think about the sequel announcement? Are you excited for Ant-Man and the Wasp? Are you bummed like me about the push back of Black Panther and Captain Marvel? What do you think the three untitled movies are going to be? Let me know in the comments section.

  1. I am looking forward to the Ant Man sequel because the first film was funny and I hope Hope Van Dyne will be Ant-Woman or whatever her super hero name is. I love when Marvel adds more Super Hero women into their film and television series. I am sad that I have to wait longer for Captain Marvel. I would of liked to see the first Marvel film centered around a super heroine a lot sooner than I will.

  2. I hope Daisy Johnson will be a main character in the future Inhuman movies, but I will understand if there some good reasons for her not being in the films. Like for example if as I hope Marvel Agents of Shield is still going on strong so Chloe Bennet doesn’t have time to film Inhuman.

    • I don’t think Daisy will be one of the stars of Inhumans because the contracts for the TV and Movie divisions are way different. Also the whole shake up with Kevin Feige has most likely put a big axe in any crossover stuff planned between the movies and TV shows.
