J.J. Abrams is the master of keeping secrets. He is known for keeping the plots of his movies a mystery, and considering people love to talk, that is one hell of a talent. Now Abrams has managed to take secrecy one step further and kept a movie (a sequel no less) under wraps. Those who went to go and see 13 Hours last night got a surprise when the trailer for a Cloverfield sequel, 10 Cloverfield Lane, was shown before the movie. The date for the sequel’s release is on March 11th, was originally under the name Valencia, and stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and John Gallagher Jr.
Watch the trailer after the jump:
It definitely looks intense as it seems Goodman and Gallagher’s characters are holding Winstead hostage in an underground bunker while some crazy event is going on the surface.
Abrams has described the movie as not a direct sequel to Cloverfield, but a “blood relative” to the 2008 surprise hit. No one really knows what “blood relative” means, but I think it is his way of saying this movie takes place around the same time as the first movie, just different circumstances. Either way, it sounds like a movie I want to go and see.
