I thought I was going to have to wait for May and the release of Civil War for the teaser to the Star Wars prequel, but Disney decided to go ahead and generate buzz this week. Take a look at the teaser for Rouge One after the jump:
The teaser focuses on Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a rebel without a cause. We don’t know how or why she ends up at a rebel base, but she does and she is tasked her with finding the plans to the Death Star so the rebellion can destroy it.
The first (of many) Star Wars standalone movies dives into the time before Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa teamed up to defeat the Empire and I’m pretty damn excited for it even though I know most of the characters we will meet and root for will not have a happy ending. Darth Vader is confirmed to make an appearance in the film, but it is unknown how big of a role the Sith Lord will play. Also rumored to make a cameo is the young Han Solo. Right now the casting choices have been narrowed down to Taron Egerton, Jack Reynor, and Alden Ehrenreich.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters December 14, 2016 and stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Jonathan Aris.
