The official trailer for Tyler Perry’s latest Medea movie dropped yesterday evening and I’m stuck wondering what in the hell did I just watch. Take a look after the jump:
I actually liked the first couple of Medea movies because they were silly and low brow, but that was okay. There is something quite reassuring about a movie knowing what it is. Over the years, Tyler Perry films have become more and more “mature” in their content, but less interesting as the director/actor/writer tires to extend himself. But when it comes to the Medea movies, they become more and more juvenile.
Perry has returned to the character that has made him famous once again and I’m not sure if the Halloween scares in the movie are meant to be a satire on the horror genre, or the next step in the ridiculousness of the franchise. This has to be a satire, right? It seems too silly to be anything else, but with Tyler Perry movies it is sometimes hard to tell.
