The Rogue One panel is still going, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t already so much for us to geek out about. The panel has ended (hosted by the fabulous Gwendoline Christie by the way) and holy wow I don’t think I could be more excited for this movie to come out. And for those of you who are concerned, yes Jiang Wen did let a MAJOR spoiler slip. I am not going to post that spoiler here so please do not worry. If you have read about or were watching the panel, please do not post the spoiler in the comments section below out of courtesy for other reader. Thank you.
The Death Star is looming close in the newest poster for the Star Wars standalone film.
Also the new behind the scenes look helps to assure fans that this is a film that pays homage to what came before, but will add plenty to the film cannon being built.
Some small highlights from the panel:
Before the panel started, Christie held a moment of silence for the victims of the Nice attack yesterday. Afterward several people started to sing the French National Anthem.
Gareth Edwards talks about going into a recording studio with James Earl Jones and another producer, “[James] said the word ‘power’ and we had a nerdgasm.”
Gareth was also freaked out about showing footage to George Lucas, who in turn teased the new director with his very dry sense of humor.
Edwards met Mark Hamill on set (who was wearing a Godzilla T-shirt) and thought to himself “please let someone be taking a photo” because he couldn’t talk about it with anyone and wanted proof for later.
Mads Mikkelsen has officially come out to say his character, Galen Erso, is Jyn Erso’s (Felicity Jones) father.
Jyn will be someone who has already lived a big life and knows who they are when meet her in the film, “unlike the other heroes in Star Wars movies.”
Riz Ahmed’s Bodhi Rook is an Imperial Pilot that “can work for a major corporation and not agree with everything they do.” Lots of long, teasing looks at Kathleen Kennedy after that one.
Alan Tudyk’s K-250 is going to be nothing like C-3P0. This is not a droid looking to sever humans, he has a personality all his own (I’m paraphrasing there).
Ben Mendelson won the day with his amazing entrance wearing his full Imperial suit and escorted by Death Troopers.
A new trailer was shown only to the audience (those who streamed it only saw the behind the scenes footage again). No news if the trailer will premiere tonight on ABC’s Star Wars special, or if it will be held off until the Pete’s Dragon‘s theatrical release August 12th
Is it December yet?
