More insanity to be covered from Comic Con! Agents of SHIELD’s panel is not to be ignored as they announced a new fiery addition to the series.
Check out the season four teaser:
Oh yes, my friends. Ghost Rider is coming!
Much to many fan’s disappointment, The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus will not be making his introduction as the Spirit of Vengeance. Instead Gabriel Luna will be taking on the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider. Everyone’s favorite zombie killer had expressed interest in bringing the Spirit of Vengeance to life possibly thru Netflix, but Marvel passed on the idea for now and I may have an idea as to why.
Roberto “Robbie” Reyes has abilities that are associated with the character of Ghost Rider and carries the title, but he is not embodied with the true Spirit of Vengeance Johnny Blaze was fused with. This still leaves the loop-hole for Blaze to come to Netflix and Reedus to portray him. Given there are rumors that Blade and Moon Knight will be given their own series on the streaming service, Ghost Rider could easily fit within a narrative with those characters and put the horrible Nicolas Cage movies in the same place we put Ben Affleck’s Daredevil. Fingers crossed!
In the meantime, I chose to be excited for the kind of narrative Robbie Reyes can bring to Agents of SHIELD. With Doctor Strange hitting theaters around November sweeps time, show runner Jed Whedon knew it was time to bring in this kind of character because he “fits with that shift,” Marvel will be making with the introduction of magic and the mystic. Plus, there will be a bad ass car for him to drive:

As for the other characters on the show…
Since ABC chose not to option the Bobbie and Hunter spinoff show, the spy and her mercenary husband’s status is unknown for season four. When asked, Whedon stated “It’s definitely classified, but keep watching.” Here’s hoping they find a way to bring those two back in the wake of Daisy Johnson’s departure.
No word on who the new Director of SHIELD is and what’s going on with Daisy Johnson, but we did get the FitzSimmons screen test, a gag reel, and a screen test between Skye and Ward (directed by Joss Whedon!). Take a look:
(These two together still get to me)
(Such professionals all of them)
(Do any of you miss Skyward?)
Agents of SHIELD season four debuts September 20th at 10/9 Central (one hour later than normal so don’t forget). I will be back with recaps, theories, and Easter eggs from each episode.
