Dancing with the Stars Week 2.1 – And the Eliminated Couple is…?

Last night’s show is the reason why I’m glad ABC cancelled the second night elimination show DWTS used to have at the beginning of its run. Excessive filler for an unnecessary two-hour show, all building up to the thirty-seconds we are all wanting to see at the very end.

The problem with having a results show in the second week of competition is that it is too early to start pushing the amateur dancers to perform another new dance as they do when an elimination show happens later in the season. So the producers filled in the gap by showcasing more new dances from the pros (which is always awesome to watch), replaying performances from week one and Monday with new camera angles and microphones hidden everywhere, and gave so many interviews to the cast asking them how they feel.

Big takeaway is the judges are really vocal during the performances, Vanilla Ice doesn’t care about scores, and Amber Rose had a giant wedgy before her first performance.

Finally, we got to what it was we wanted.

Endangered Couples:

Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev
Ryan Lochte and Cheryl Burke (I guess the sympathy didn’t work as much as the producers hoped)
Jake T. Austin and Jenna Johnson
Amber Rose and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

(Wait! Rick Perry wasn’t even in jeopardy? Goes to show, people won’t vote when it comes to politics, but reality shows…)

The Wizards of Waverly Place star struggled with the routines and in a season where there is so much great competition (and Rick Perry), the 21-year-old actor had to go. I am a bit disappointed because there was a chance he could have improved, but now we will never know for sure.

What did you think of last night’s elimination special? Was it was too long for you too? Did you with there were more dances from the pros? Are you sad to see Jake go home? Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
