Briefly touching on the origins of Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) before she broken out of an Imperial cell by the Rebellion and the fighting starts, this final look at the “experimental” Star Wars film gives us more action sequences and an explanation for the title. The trailer also confirms why the Rebels come to Jyn in the first place, her father Galen Erso (Mad Mikkelsen) worked on the Death Star.
“If the Empire has this kind of power, what chance do we have?” a rebel asks. The overwhelming strength of the Imperial forces looms heavy over the trailer that features more glimpses of Darth Vader.
While the original trilogy saw the Rebellion mostly in the aftermath of a major victory (Spoiler Alert, they blow up the Death Star at the end of A New Hope), Rogue One presents the Rebellion as something much smaller before others became inspired to fight and the power one person can have to make a difference.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits US theaters December 18th.
