Have a case of the Mondays? Disney has found a way to make it all better this morning. Take a look after the jump:
Beauty and the Beast was always one of my favorite Disney films because it featured a heroine who loved to read and didn’t quite fit in with the people around her. I understood that all too well growing up as a girl with my nose buried in a book for most of middle and high school. The love story was fine and all, I just loved that Belle stood out from the other Disney Princesses at that time as someone who was smart and headstrong. A woman who knew who she was and what she wanted.
The live action remake really has me excited because the string of these new versions of the classic animated films have been focusing on developing the female characters beyond the two-dimensional (with the exception of Jungle Book for obvious reasons). It will be interesting to see how much further they can take Belle, who was already a fascinating character in the original.
As for the look of the film, the sets look spectacular. Gothic with that Disney touch. Emma Watson, Kevin Kline, and Luke Evans are the perfect Belle, Maurice, and Gaston. The Beast’s (Dan Stevens) make up looks better in the trailer than it did in the photos released last week. But I don’t know about the various occupants of the castle. The faces on the objects are a little creepy and it is going to take some time for me to get used to that look.
What did you think of the Beauty and the Beast full trailer? Are you as excited as I am? What do you think of the look of the characters? Let me know in the comments section below.
