Last night, the first look at the latest Transformers entry hit the interwebs looking a lot like every movie that has come before it in the series. Check it out after the jump:
With a heavily cryptic voice over by Anthony Hopkins (who’s involvement in this movie still baffles me) about sacrifice and the real reasons the Autobots keep coming here, the trailer is full of those moments you would expect from a Michael Bay film.
If you love these movies, then this trailer is exciting and full of intrigue. Lots of explosions, people vs bots, bot vs bot. Earth in crisis. A three-headed dragon! Optimus Prime looks as if he is about to kill Bumblebee after returning to Earth.
If you are like me, then you were done with this series about two or three movies back. The whole thing looks like a giant mess made to induced an epic migraine to contend with long after the movie has ended.
Because of China’s love of these films, Paramount has recently decided there will be a whole universe of Transformers films, but this will be the final time Bay will be sitting behind the camera. To be honest, I don’t know if that will improve these movies or not.
Transformers: The Last Knight crashes into U.S. theaters June 23, 2017 and stars Mark Walhberg, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, Josh Duhamel, John Goodman, Isabela Moner, Stanley Tucci, and John Turturro.
