After the running of the Spider-Men thru Hollywood Blvd, Jimmy Kimmel Live premiered the first teaser for Spidey’s official introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check it out after the jump:
Also, the International trailer
Okay, I’m good now. Spider-Man (and the rest of the MCU movies to be honest) is not quite as exciting for me as Star Wars, but it is pretty far up there.
All of the elements we were promised are there. Lots of action and fun, but a good dose of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) being a big dork in high school. There is a real John Hughes feel there, especially in the beginning of the first teaser. Parker is coming of age, but figuring out the kind of person he is also has to contend with the kind of hero he wants to be.
There is quite a bit of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in the teaser released on Kimmel (along with a quick shot of both Iron Man and Spidey racing off to save the day tagged on at the end), but I feel like that may be the extent as to which we are going to see the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist in the movie. He is a mentor to a kid who has powers and wants to make a difference with them. Stark’s presence in the teaser has many people thinking the Iron Spider will make an appearance, but I have a feeling that suit will be saved for Infinity War. As of now, the focus is on Parker proving himself to be an Avengers worthy superhero.
The international trailer focused a little more on the main villain, Vulture, played by Batman’s Michael Keaton. There is a quick shot of Shocker (the amazing Bokeem Woodbine from Fargo) and most likely, just as Stark’s appearance, that will be the extent he will be seen in the movie.
Now that the first teasers have arrived, tell me what you think of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Are you excited to see the web flinging superhero take his place in the MCU?
Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into U.S. theaters July 7, 2017.
