The sequel to the 1982 cult sci-fi classic released a first look this morning which features Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard and a new face. Check it out after the jump:
Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is well known for its cinematic beauty, behind the scenes woes, and one of the most debated endings amongst film lovers like myself. For many years, fans have been begging for a sequel that could possibly resolve all the deliberations we have had for the last 34 years. Will the sequel give us some answers or raise a whole new set of debates?
The teaser itself answers nothing, but does exactly what it is supposed to do. Tantalize fans with the cyberpunk machines in the overcrowded streets of Los Angeles, so much rain, and Ryan Gosling’s K wearing a very familiar looking trench coat.
The voiceover in the trailer (let’s hope there is not one in the film) has Deckard presumably talking to K after he finds the former Blade Runner in seclusion in the middle of nowhere, and heavily implying the older man wants to be left alone. K’s remark about the simplicity of the past suggests Deckard will be coming along with K and will be in for a much worse ride than before.
Blade Runner 2049 stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, along with Robin Wright and will arrive in U.S. theaters October 6, 2017.
